Small encryption utility that can lock and add encryption to all types of files protected by a password.
Predator is a freeware password generator app and locking program, developed by Richard Goutorbe for Windows. It's pretty helpful.
The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below.
Locks a PC when a user is away
Predator locks your PC when you are away, even if your Windows session is still opened.
It uses a regular USB flash drive as an access control device.
Features of Predator
- Define the times of day when each user may access the computer with the built-in scheduler.
- From authorized periods you can either lock the desktop, logoff the user or shutdown the computer.
- Lock user accounts according to a hourly, daily or weekly schedule, each one with its own timetable.
- Make specific rules for each user and each day of the week.
- Protect several PCs with the same USB flash drive, e.g. your home and office computers.
- Protect several user accounts on a PC, each one having its own settings and its own USB stick.
- Remove the flash drive to disable the computer for good.
- Sends alert messages by Email.
Compatibility and License
Predator is provided under a freeware license on Windows from PC locking software with no restrictions on usage. Download and installation of this PC software is free and 3.7.4.712 is the latest version last time we checked.
What version of Windows can Predator run on?
Predator can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It's only available as a 64-bit download.
